Mass. man ID'd after killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 18
A New Bedford man was identified as the person killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 18 in New Bedford on Aug. 3 , Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III's office said Thursday.
Johan Marquez Marte, 37, died following a crash in the area of Union Street at around 2:30 p.m. that day. New Bedford police arrived and found Marte in the left lane between Union and Elm Streets, Quinn's office said in a statement.
Officers found another person performing CPR on the man, Quinn's office said in a previous statement. Police took over life-saving measures before paramedics arrived. Marte was hospitalized but was pronounced dead not long after.
Police found the man's motorcycle a short distance from where they found Marte, Quinn's office said. The preliminary investigation suggests he lost control of his motorcycle prior to the crash, which does not appear suspicious.
