Mike Grimala

Massachusetts was slammed by an overnight snowstorm that dropped more than 6 inches of the white stuff in some parts of the state, and more precipitation may be on the way.

According to the National Weather Service , snowfall was most significant in Western and Central Massachusetts, where totals reached as high as 6.7 inches. In the Boston area, Brookline and Dorchester measured in at 3.7 inches early Saturday morning.

Though snowfall has tapered off in most areas, a winter storm warning is still in effect in Berkshire County until 1 p.m. Saturday.
