Mass. weather: When will Tropical Storm Melissa affect Massachusetts?
As the weekend draws near, expect cooler temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service .
As high pressure builds across Quebec, Massachusetts will be dry on Saturday, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s across most of the state. Boston, however, will see lows in the 40s on Saturday night.
Winds will first come from the northwest and then the north, reaching 7 to 8 mph.
Sunny skies are expected in Pittsfield, Springfield, Worcester and Boston during the day, while skies turn mostly cloudy at night, according to the seven-day forecast.
Sunday is expected to be similar to Saturday, with temperatures reaching the 50s across the state. However, some places in Western Massachusetts at higher elevations may see highs in the 40s, according to forecasters.
Cape Cod and the Islands have a chance of showers on Sunday, but most of the state will remain dry.
Forecasters are also keeping an eye on a coastal storm that could bring heavy rain to Massachusetts next week, as Tropical Storm Melissa is projected to become a major hurricane by the end of the weekend.
While the storm won't impact Massachusetts, its effects may bring bands of rain and gusts of wind to the Bay State starting Monday.
