Melania Trump to attend Correspondents’ dinner
Melania Trump will be joining the president at this week’s White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner, marking the first time the first lady has attended the high-profile annual gala.
President Trump said last month that he would take part in Saturday’s dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel for the first time as commander in chief, after breaking with tradition and boycotting the black-tie gathering throughout his first term in office.
“In honor of our Nation’s 250th Birthday, and the fact that these ‘Correspondents’ now admit that I am truly one of the Greatest Presidents in the History of our Country, the G.O.A.T., according to many, it will be my Honor to accept their invitation, and work to make it the GREATEST, HOTTEST, and MOST SPECTACULAR DINNER, OF ANY KIND, EVER!” Trump said in a March social media post.
Trump last attended the dinner , not-so-affectionately dubbed “Nerd Prom,” in 2015, although his wife didn’t accompany him.
But Melania Trump will be attending the dinner this time around, ITK has learned.
Mentalist Oz Pearlman is poised to serve as the entertainer at the dinner, which largely supports the WHCA’s journalism scholarship program.
The much-hyped soiree is typically attended by journalists, lawmakers, Washington insiders and celebrities.
