Nation’s newest 9/11 Memorial set to be dedicated at Long Island school

WANTAGH, N.Y. (PIX11) — The country's newest 9/11 Memorial is meant to help people born long after the tragedy understand it, honor the fallen, and better comprehend how the nation came together to overcome the attacks. 

It's on the grounds of the high school here, which will inaugurate the memorial on Sept. 11.

The school gave PIX11 News a detailed preview to show how the local community worked together to make the concept of a memorial a reality, and how an outside organization dedicated to honoring veterans and first responders played a key role in helping young people better understand sacrifices made by heroes generations before them.
