PD: Holyoke man caught trespassing, with 80 bags of heroin, fentanyl on him
HOLYOKE — A man with a history of drug convictions was arrested early Monday after police found him trespassing in a Holyoke apartment building while in possession of 80 bags of suspected heroin mixed with fentanyl.
In a statement, Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan said Santiago Soltren-Ramirez, 37, was charged with drug possession and trespassing. Because he had past drug convictions, the charges were listed as subsequent offenses.
Soltren-Ramirez's past convictions were for drug distribution in cases out of Northampton District Court and drug possession in Holyoke District Court.
Keenan said around 4 a.m. Monday, police checking a property at 173 Elm St. saw a man in the hallway. He was later identified as Soltren-Ramirez.
Soltren-Ramirez didn't live in the building and was arrested for trespassing. Officers searched him and found about 80 bags of suspected heroin mixed with fentanyl, along with more than $100, he said.
