Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by car in Salem

A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a car Friday evening. 

Just after 10 p.m., officers responded to the 5100 block of Portland Road Northeast. The pedestrian was transported to Salem Hospital; the Salem Police Department said that their current condition is unknown at this time. 

The driver remained on scene, police said. 

Meanwhile, Portland Road Northeast is closed between Chemawa Road Northeast-Hazelgreen Road Northeast and Kale Street Northeast during the investigation.
