A Massachusetts man was caught in a rideshare vehicle after police say he stole $3,000 worth of power tools, including chainsaws, from an Ace Hardware store.

The 40-year-old Falmouth man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering a building during the nighttime with intent to commit a felony and malicious destruction of property over $1,200.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, Lakeville Police responded to a burglary alarm at Ace Hardware store at 352 Bedford St.

Officers found an unoccupied running vehicle behind the business and evidence that the building had been broken into.

Officers also found about $3,000 worth of power tools on the ground behind the building, including chainsaws, battery-powered tools, leaf blowers and compressors.

Nearby, officers stopped a rideshare vehicle and found the 40-year-old man as a passenger. Police said he was identified as the suspect in the break-in and taken into custody without incident.

The man was arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.
