Americans who took part in a recent poll shared feelings of uneasiness and frustration regarding President Donald Trump's second term in office.

The CBS News/YouGov poll , released Sunday, asked respondents to describe how Trump's presidency has made them feel as he approaches his one-year mark of returning to the White House.

The survey reports that 54% of Americans said Trump's presidency made them feel "uneasy," 51% said they felt "frustrated," 47% said they feel "unsafe," and 42% said they are "exhausted."

Meanwhile, 25% of Americans who voluntarily took the poll said they are "confident" in Trump's term while 21% said they are "satisfied."

When breaking it down by party, Republicans provided a more positive outlook.

Nearly 60% of Republicans said they feel "confident," 51% they are "satisfied," 50% said they feel "safe," and 44% said they feel "energized."

Alternatively, majority of Democratic participants shared negative emotions towards the president.

Some 85% of Democrats said they feel "unsafe," 83% reported they are feeling "uneasy," 83% said they are feeling frustrated and 68% said they are "exhausted."

The new poll also revealed a growing number of Americans are viewing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as being "too tough."

The survey discover that a majority (52%) of the public believes the agency is making communities "less safe."

The sharp shift in sentiment follows the Jan. 7 shooting of Renee Nicole Good , a 37-year-old mother, during a large-scale ICE operation in Minneapolis.

The encounter, which was captured on a video that was seen by 81% of those polled, has become a major debate over the use of force.

According to the survey, 54% of respondents say the shooting of Good was unjustified. Meanwhile, 28% say it was justified and 17% report it is too soon to say.

The poll also highlights a stark divide between the White House's campaign promises last year and what respondents view as what has happened.

While the administration pledged in January 2025 that it would focus on "dangerous criminals," 56% of adults now believe the agency is instead prioritizing individuals who are not deemed dangerous.

Also, 52% of participants are viewing ICE's presence as making communities "less safe," compared to just 31% who believe they are "more safe." Another 17% see no change in safety.

The survey also revealed that 81% of conservatives believe that the protests who have taken to the streets since the Minneapolis shooting have gone "too far."
