Popular Boston-area doughnut chain expanding to suburbs
A beloved Boston-area bakery chain known for its seasonal doughnuts and beverages is branching out to the suburbs.
Union Square Donuts is expected to open at MarketStreet in Lynnfield this fall, according to a press release. The opening will mark the local chain's seventh location and will become the first outside the immediate Boston area.
Union Square Donuts' other locations are in Boston Public Market, Time Out Market, Brookline, Harvard Square, Assembly Row and Union Square.
An exact opening date for the Lynnfield location has yet to be announced.
Founded in Somerville in 2012, Union Square Donuts' award-winning pastries are baked fresh daily and finished with glazes, jams and toppings that are all made in-house. Menu items change based on the season with several staples sticking around all year, such as Honey Glazed, Raspberry Jam Filled and Boston Cream.
Union Square has also introduced other unique products and ventures, including its Dubai Chocolate Donut and Smashed Up — a collaboration with Boston Burger Company — that serves doughnut burgers at the Brookline location. Union Square Donuts also offers several caffeinated beverages, including coffees, teas and lattes.
MarketStreet in Lynnfield will welcome three other stores this fall in addition to Union Square Donuts. They are ALO, Cava and Rowan.
MarketStreet is located at 600 Market St., right off Exit 61 on I-95, in Lynnfield.
