Popular trick-or-treat candy bars recalled over life threatening ingredient risk
With trick-or-treating just days away, Zingerman's Candy Manufactory is recalling two types of candy bars after discovering they could have nuts that aren't listed in the ingredients list.
People who have an allergy to cashews or peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat the candy bars, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall is for two products: "Zingerman's Peanut Butter Crush Full Size Bars" and "Zingerman's Ca$hew Cow Full Size Bars." They were distributed to retailers in Michigan and New York.
The affected Peanut Butter Crush Bars were packaged in yellow and purple 2-ounce boxes labelled "Peanut Butter Crush" with the lot number 174250.

The recall was initiated after Zingerman's discovered that the Peanut Butter Crush Bars containing cashews were distributed in packaging that did not say the candy bars contained cashews.
The company also found out that the Cashew Cow Bars may contain peanuts which were not declared in the ingredients list.
A subsequent investigation unveiled that a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes may have caused the issue, the administration said.
No illnesses have been reported. However, customers who purchased these candy bars are told to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
