WESTFIELD — To fill the vital need of providing medical care in the city, Priority Urgent Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony at its office in Westgate Plaza to celebrate its grand opening.

"Thank you everybody for coming here. We really appreciate it," said Dr. Daksh Rampal after the ribbon cutting. "And I have to thank everybody who's here, but more importantly to all the people who helped make it happen."

Priority Urgent Care has been recognized for its exceptional healthcare services, notably for its crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This new location will further enhance urgent care accessibility for the community, offering the convenience of walk-in services to address various healthcare needs, according to a press release announcing the grand opening.

Mayor Michael McCabe, who attended the ceremony and presented Rampal a proclamation welcoming the practice to the city, spoke about the importance of having Priority Urgent Care open at 311 E. Main St.

"I have been a past member of the Noble Board of Directors, so I really actually do understand the importance of the role of primary care, urgent care and keeping the urgency where it's supposed to be. We really are supposed to be…one step away from the emergency room," McCabe said, who was joined by City Councilor At-Large Cindy Harris, and the city's Health Director Debra Mulvenna.

With Baystate Noble Hospital's emergency department providing emergency care to over 35,000 patients, McCabe thanked Rampal for the business' investment.

State Rep. Kelly Pease was also on hand to celebrate the opening.

"This urgent care is needed to take the load off our hospitals, so thank you for coming to us," Pease said.

Since its establishment in 2017 by Rampal and his partner Dr. Anumeha Singh, MD ,Priority Urgent Care has expanded rapidly, now operating nine locations across Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Priority Urgent Care offers a variety of services including lab testing, vaccinations, x-ray services, EKGs, school and sport physicals, worker's compensation injury assessment and treatment, and federal/forensic drug screen collection along with other health snapshots.
