Recall alert: Your Amazon mattress could be a fire hazard — stop use ‘immediately’

Amazon is recalling one of its mattress products after discovering that it poses a fire hazard and a risk of serious injury or death.

The July 31 recall is for about 2,700 Amazon Basics Premium Foam Eurotop mattresses, since they violate a mandatory flammability standard for mattresses, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) .

The 9-inch-thick mattresses were sold on Amazon in twin, full, queen and king sizes from January 2023 through June 2024 and cost between $82 and $278.

The product has a white top panel and a gray side panel with an "Amazon Basics" tag on the foot panel. These mattresses were manufactured from Dec. 22, 2022 through May 16, 2024.

No incidents or injuries have been reported. However, customers are told to stop using the recalled mattresses "immediately," the CPSC wrote.

As a remedy, customers are asked to write "Recalled" on the mattress with a permanent market, submit a photo of the marked mattress to this website and certify disposal.

Upon receipt of the photo and certification of disposal, customers will be issued a full refund to a valid payment method in the customer's Amazon wallet or in the form of an Amazon gift card.

The recalled mattresses should be disposed of in accordance with local laws. Amazon is contacting all known purchasers directly.
