New restaurant takes over Flying Rhino Cafe in Worcester
A new restaurant plans to replace the now-closed Flying Rhino Cafe on Worcester's Shrewsbury Street.
The business, Mercado Restaurant, will open "soon" at 278 Shrewsbury St., the former home of Flying Rhino Cafe, according to its Instagram page, which was created in September.
Details about the new restaurant and its cuisine are not listed on the Instagram page. A flyer hanging on the former Flying Rhino's building confirms Mercado Restaurant will open at the Shrewsbury Street location.
The Mercado Restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.
The Flying Rhino Cafe building was purchased by husband and wife Enton Mehillaj and Oriola Koci on June 20, according to the Worcester Registry of Deeds. Niether Mehillaj nor Koci could be reached for comment Tuesday.
The restaurant was sold after its owners, Paul and Melina Capsalis Barber, decided to move on after 25 years of business.
The Flying Rhino Cafe was known for serving buffalo chicken wontons, fish and chips and the "Big Mac Daddy" salad, according to its menu.
