School closings, delays in Massachusetts for Tuesday, Dec. 2
The first significant snow storm of the season in Massachusetts has schools throughout the state closing school for Tuesday in anticipation of wet, messy snow likely to complicate driving.
A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of Western, Central and Eastern Massachusetts, the majority from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

While rain will dominate most eastern parts of the state during the day, the snow is expected to return late Tuesday night — and some areas could see snow all day.
Western Massachusetts is likely to remain all snow throughout the storm.
Forecasters warn residents to prepare for dangerous travel conditions, power outages and tree damage, especially where the storm is heaviest in Western and Central Massachusetts.
Much of Western and the northern part of Central Massachusetts can expect between 6 and 11 inches of snow, according to forecasters. As you get closer to the Connecticut border, a Winter Weather Advisory calls for less snow, about 1 to 3 inches.
MetroWest is likely to see 3 to 6 inches, with Eastern Massachusetts expected to mostly see rain, forecasters said Monday afternoon.
Roads will be slick in Western Massachusetts and travel could be "difficult to impossible," especially during the Tuesday evening commute, forecasters warn.
