The first location of Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken to open in Massachusetts is relocating under new management.

Big Chicken at the Northshore Mall in Peabody has closed and is moving to Beverly and will reopen in early 2026, a spokesperson for the company told MassLive Tuesday.

"We are excited to continue serving the North Shore with our BIG flavor and larger-than-life guest experience," the spokesperson wrote in a statement. "In the meantime, we will be focused on connecting with the local community and finding more ways to bring people together through bold food and BIG fun."

The Peabody store opened at the Northshore Mall at 210 Andover St. in Peabody on July 10, 2024.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2018, Big Chicken fuses O'Neal's home-cooked childhood favorites with today's trending flavors. Menu items include chicken sandwiches such as "The Ultimate" and "Shaq Attack" as well as Cheez-It-crusted mac n'cheese and ice cream shakes.

After debuting in Peabody, the chain announced plans to bring six more restaurants to the state including in Boston, MetroWest, Cape Cod and the North Shore. Big Chicken's only other Massachusetts location now is in Wrentham.

Big Chicken has more than 300 locations nationwide in dozens of cities, stadiums and even cruise ships. Big Chicken has also expanded overseas with its first international location opening at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
