Springfield holding meetings to explain new energy program designed to lower rates
SPRINGFIELD — The city is holding four informational meetings about the new Community Choice Energy Aggregation Program, which uses the collective purchasing of its residents to purchase energy from different suppliers including those who generate green energy.
The goal of the program is to offer lower supply rates by purchasing energy through the least expensive providers. Residents who are on the Eversource Basic Service rate plan will automatically be enrolled in the program but they can choose to opt out by signing and returning a reply card or online at colonialpowergroup.com/springfield.
Meetings will be held Wednesday at the Clodo Concepcion Community Center, 1187 Parker St.; Oct. 29 at the Rebecca Johnson School, 55 Catharine St.; Nov. 4 at the Raymond Jordan Senior Center in Blunt Park, 1476 Roosevelt Ave. and Nov. 6 at the Brightwood Branch Library, 359 Plainfield St. All the meetings will begin at 6 p.m. except the Nov. 4 one that will begin at 5:30 p.m.
