Staple pub in Boston’s South End closes after ‘many wonderful years’
A neighborhood gem in Boston's South End known for its upscale comfort food and stylish interior has shut down after "many wonderful years."
Brownstone revealed on its website and social media Monday that the restaurant had closed for good after roughly 15 years.
"We are so grateful for your loyalty and support — it has meant the world to us," the statement on Brownstone's website reads. "Thank you for being part of our journey!"
While an exact reason for the closure was not provided, a post on Brownstone's Facebook read, "The old girl is tired. It's time."
The post also referred to the longstanding challenges and changes within the restaurant industry.
"The restaurant business is fickle. It's difficult every day," the post read. "Brownstone was fortunate enough to defy the typical lifestyle of a very good restaurant, many times over. Decades on Dartmouth, dishing it up."
Brownstone was described as a chic bistro and bar featuring craft cocktails and pub-inspired dishes. The scratch kitchen opened for brunch in the morning and offered food until late at night.
Brownstone was part of Glynn Hospitality Group, which oversees other popular concepts such as Dillon's, Clery's, Coogan's, Granary Tavern and The Black Rose.
"As we close this chapter, we invite you to explore our sister concepts and continue enjoying exceptional experiences with us," the statement on Brownstone's website read.
The address for the now-closed Brownstone is 111 Dartmouth St., Boston.
