State adds to parkland in Deerfield
DEERFIELD — The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation purchased a roughly 262-acre wooded property on Pine Nook Road and River Road.
The purchase price was $1.52 million, according to papers filed Sept. 18 at the Franklin County Registry of Deeds.
Registry documents related to the seller, the Anne D. Rogers Trust, identifies the land as Hilltop Farm. Recent satellite images of the property show thick woods. The land is near the Connecticut River.
The property is close to other Department of Conservation and Recreation property and several miles from the Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation, according to a DCR statement.
In July, DCR announced the purchase of 380 acres in the North Quabbin region spread across the towns of Orange, Royalston and Wendell.
