Two police officers were hurt after a suspect shot a rifle during an overnight SWAT standoff, police said.

Chicago police said they were called to a home in the 3400-block of West Wrightwood Avenue at about 11:43 a.m. for a well-being check.

CPD said they received reports of an altercation between a 75-year-old woman and a man she knew. His age was not released by police.

The man then pulled out a riffle in the direction of police and barricaded himself inside the home.

CPD's SWAT team then responded and a standoff began.

The suspect shot his riffle multiple times. Two officers had minor injuries from fragmented rounds.

A ballistic shield was also struck by gunfire, police said.

The standoff came to an end at about 4:57 a.m. as the suspect was taken into custody at about 4:57 a.m.

He was taken to an area hospital; police did not say if he had any injuries.

The 75-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital for observation but has since been released.

Multiple weapons were recovered at the scene.

No other information was available.
