Trump said we make money with high oil costs. Who is 'we?' | Letter
President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social that "The United States is the largest oil producer in the World, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money."
Other than the oil companies and his billionaire friends, I'm not sure who else is making a lot of money. Seems like most of us are losing money when we pump gas, and will lose more in the near future as transportation costs drive up food prices.
Just look at one example of how crazy and ill-thought out this "war of choice" is. Apparently, Russia has been supplying intelligence to Iran to attack our United States forces. And because of potential oil shortages caused by this war, the US is rewarding Russia by loosening sanctions and allowing them to sell oil on the open market. Russia will then use these funds to continue to wage war against Ukraine, whom we are helping to resist Russia's attacks.
Once again, who is benefiting from this? Russian President Vladimir Putin and the oligarchs in Russia, and the oil companies and billionaires here. And who started this madness. Our very own "mad king."
