  • U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy encourages people to dress nicer for flights to improve behavior in airports.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffyis trying to make airports great again.

The Republican politician, 54, is doubling down on his view that people should dress nicer for their flight.

During an appearance on NewsNation's Katie Pavlich Tonight on Thursday, January 22, Duffy said, "I can't mandate you dress up, but don't wear pajamas and slippers to the airport. I think if you dress a little better, you behave a little better."

While he acknowledged that airline seats are "pretty tight" these days, he still wants people on board to be "well behaved," he said, "and I think a little better dressed would help with that."

The Real World: Boston alum told host Katie Pavlich, 37, that overall he wants the "airport experience to be better," which could include "better food, better play areas for kids, better nursing areas for nursing mothers that are clean and accessible" and more.

Duffy also hopes to get exercise areas in airports. "We want mini gyms," he stated. "So if you want to walk through the airport and have a little bit of time, and you want to crank out a couple of pull-ups, or a couple of push-ups."

However, he said, "I don't want you to do the full workout [and be] sweating on the flight."

Duffy previously spoke about "a degradation in civility" when it comes to behavior in airports during a November interview with Fox Business — and he said that it could be related to the way people dress.

"You know, whether it's a pair of jeans and a decent shirt, I would encourage people to maybe dress a little bit better, which encourages us to maybe behave a little better," he said.

"Let's try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come to the airport," he urged people. "I think that's positive."
