President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will welcome Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the White House on Monday.

Buckingham Palace said over the weekend that the trip would proceed after Saturday’s shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

“Following discussions on both sides of the Atlantic through the day, and acting on advice of Government, we can confirm the State Visit by Their Majesties will proceed as planned,” a spokesperson for the palace said Sunday.

The  royal tour , which marks Charles’s first trip to the U.S. as monarch, comes after Trump has lambasted the country’s Prime Minister  Keir Starmer  for not being supportive of the U.S. war in Iran and its reluctance to help Washington control the Strait of Hormuz.
