Worcester protest planned after ICE agent kills Minnesota mother
Protesters will gather outside Worcester City Hall Thursday night to rally against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after an agent for the organization shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother from Minnesota.
The protest will begin at 6 p.m. and 50 to 100 protesters are estimated to attend, according to community organizer and Worcester Indivisible member Mysti Green.
A poster for the rally sent by Green to MassLive reads "Stop ICE Terror, Justice for Renee Nicole Good."
On Jan. 7, a federal agent shot and killed Good while she was in her vehicle in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Members of President Donald Trump's administration have said the agent acted in self defense, accusing Good of using her vehicle as a weapon to hit the officer.
"She tried to stop him from doing his job," Vice President JD Vance wrote on X . "When he approached her car, she tried to hit him."
Democratic elected officials say Good was murdered by the agent.
"This is a nightmare," U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-2nd District, wrote on Facebook . "This crime must immediately be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law."
Footage of the encounter shows two ICE agents approach the driver side door of Good's vehicle, which was in the middle of the street. As the vehicle backs up, a third agent can be seen in the front of the vehicle. The vehicle then drives forward and the ICE agent in front pulls out a gun. The agent shoots the front of the vehicle, steps to the side and shoots again.
The vehicle then sped up and crashed, according to the New York Times .
A protest took place in Boston Wednesday night following the shooting, according to the Boston Globe .
Worcester City Hall is at 455 Main St.
