Boston Police use gun, taser to subdue ‘vicious dog’
A Boston Police officer fired their gun in an effort to "gain control" of a "vicious dog" outside the main branch of the Boston Public Library, which was later subdued using a taser several blocks away, the department said.
At around 9:22 a.m. Thursday officers responded to a call for removal at 700 Boylston St., where they encountered the dog, Officer Mark Marron said in a written statement. An officer attempting to "gain control" of the animal fired their weapon.
No one was injured when the gun went off, police said.
The dog fled the area, prompting a search. Officers found the dog several blocks away in the area of the Boston Common and Downtown Crossing, where it was subdued using a taser, police said.
Officers deployed a taser multiple times at separate locations as they attempted to apprehend the dog, police said.
No injuries were reported from the taser deployments, police said. An investigation into the incident is active and ongoing and no arrests have been made.
