Both well accomplished in their respective fields and Texas Tech alumni, Campbell and Womble were elected chair and vice chair of the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System during a special called board meeting on Monday night.
The board convened into the meeting around 6 p.m. and, after nearly two hours of executive session, the board unanimously approved the two to their respective positions where they will serve for two years.
This comes as the current chair and vice chair, Mark Griffin and Ginger Kerrick Davis , terms as regents are set to expire with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott already announcing new appointments to the board - Doug McReaken and Donald R. Sinclair - who are expected to be sworn in at the next board meeting in May.
