FAMU board meeting postponed due to Zoom outage, delays presidential search update
The Florida A&M University Board of Trustees' April 16 meeting will be rescheduled due to a nationwide Zoom outage that peaked at the anticipated meeting's start time.
With the meeting being postponed, it pushes back the board's initial plans of providing updates on FAMU's presidential search and approving a men's basketball coach contract for Heisman Trophy winner and former NBA star Charlie Ward among other agenda items that would have been discussed.
"A new date and time will be posted once available. Thank you for your patience," the university said in a statement.
Users began reporting outages on the popular video conferencing platform to Downdetector.com midday on April 16, according to the website. Reports of outages peaked at 3 p.m. ET, but remained high an hour later.

Although it is not yet clear when the trustees will convene, the anticipated presidential search updates will come as the university hopes to have its 13th leader named by this summer.
The future meeting will also come as Ward is in the process of finalizing a deal to become FAMU's next men's basketball coach to replace Patrick Crarey , the Tallahassee Democrat has confirmed.
