Superintendent Angie Smetana said the Grape Creek Independent School District was informed of Carson's arrest Monday.

"Mr. Carson has been put on administrative leave with pay pending an ongoing investigation with local law enforcement," Smetana said.

The charges stem from a case in which police said a man broke into an ex-girlfriend's residence on Sunday evening and assaulted her.

The San Angelo Police Department was called to a home in the first block of East 42nd Street for a report of a domestic disturbance, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The woman told officers the man forced his way through the door when she refused to let him inside her home, according to the affidavit.

She said the man came into "her bedroom and grabbed her by the throat, then started to strike her in the face," the affidavit stated.

The woman alleges the man struck her multiple times and kept following her as she tried to escape, according the affidavit.

Police indicated the front door was damaged.
