Hampden FD battles brush fire, receives mutual aid from neighboring departments
HAMPDEN — Firefighters are battling a 4.3-acre brush fire on Mountain Road this afternoon, according to the town Fire Department's social media page.
The fire is in a remote area, and UTVs are being used to reach it, the Hampden Fire Department said in its Facebook post. The fire has been contained, the post said.
The department is receiving mutual aid from several neighboring towns' Fire Departments, including Wilbraham and Monson in Massachusetts, and Shaker Pines, Somers and West Stafford, Connecticut.

The department declined to comment about the fire Thursday afternoon, noting how busy it was.
