What Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis wants you to know about Election Day

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Now that the midterms are only days away, here's what you may need to know ahead of Election Day.

Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis says it's important to know that Missouri law requires you to show a federally or state issued photo ID. They can include a driver's license, passport, military ID, veterans ID, or even a tribal ID.

Davis says your voter-ID card should have your polling location listed on it, along with the voting district, the state representative, the senator, and the congressional district. When someone registers to vote every two years, they're sent new voter ID cards.

"I think it's important to understand the process of voting early because sometimes life throws curveballs at us. Sometimes you don't know what's going to happen a day before election day or maybe on election day on your way to the polls. You might get sick. Your car might break down. We might have extremely bad weather and we have problems at the polls, or you just don't want to get wet," said Davis.
