How many votes MLB legend Mark Teixeira delivered rare Donald Trump midterm elections win with

Former 3-time MLB All-Star Mark Teixeira proved to be one of the few bright spots for Donald Trump during the US midterm elections.
The 'Blue Wave' has been the big headline coming out of the midterm election results in the United States. The Republicans lost major ground to the Democrats, with surprising victories in Iowa, Kansas, and South Carolina, to name a few.
One of the biggest surprises on the night came from Texas. James Talarico flipped the Senate seat, beating out Ken Paxton. Meanwhile, Gina Hinojosa was elected Governor, beating out incumbent Greg Abbott. However, for President Donald Trump and his party, one former MLB star provided some small solace in the Lone Star State.
Former New York Yankees star Mark Teixeira claimed 54.5 percent of the vote in U.S. House race
Mark Teixeira's MLB career was incredibly successful, he was a three-time All-Star, won five Gold Glove Awards, and earned three Silver Slugger honours. His most notable team success came with the New York Yankees, when he helped the franchise win its 27th World Series title.
Now, he has helped the Republican cause in Texas. Teixeira defeated Democratic candidate Kristin Hook with 194,302 votes to her 162,088, according to the Texas Secretary of State's election results. He is set to represent Texas' 21st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.
It was a comfortable margin of victory for the former baseball star, he won by 32,214 votes. Considering how badly the other Trump-endorsed candidates fared in the state, it is an even more resounding win for the 46-year-old.
In the larger scheme of things, this doesn't mean all that much for the Republicans, though. The Democrats have an outright majority in both the House and the Senate following the midterms. It will be interesting to see how Teixeira's political career progresses once he gets to Washington D.C.
