Sketchy Trump Email Offers “DOGE Membership”

Donald Trump's campaign is using a purported conversation with Elon Musk to promote a new fundraising pitch offering donors "DOGE Membership." In an email sent Wednesday, the Trump campaign claimed that Musk visited the White House for a meeting and that the two discussed "the key to saving the MAGA Movement."

The personalized email then told the recipient, "The key to saving the MAGA Movement is [them]" using the recipient's first name, before asking them to contribute before midnight.

The email also claimed that Trump and Musk were personally calling on the recipient and promised donors who contributed before the deadline that their names would be added to an "Elon and my prestigious DOGE Membership Roster." The message said the roster "became extinct in 2024 until today" and teased unspecified "special surprises" for members.

The highly personalized wording gives the impression that the individual recipient had specifically come up in Trump and Musk's conversation, although the email itself provides no evidence that Trump and Musk actually discussed that particular donor. The pitch instead uses the appearance of a personal appeal, a midnight deadline and the promise of exclusive membership status to solicit a contribution.
