Trump asks ‘what’s the purpose’ of ‘crazy’ Kaitlan Collins: ‘She’s a very average person’

President Donald Trump is once again blasting Alabama native and CNN Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins.

In a wide-ranging interview with Time , Trump held forth on several issues ahead of next month's mid-term elections. But the president had choice words for the media, and Collins in particular.

He said no one "should be forced to bear fake news, constantly bad stories, because I've done great things."

"I mean, I've done Venezuela. I've done—I can name, I can name 100 great things I've done," Trump said. "I never get good press. I never get fair press. Doesn't have to be good. All it has to be is fair. So at a certain point, you say, 'What's the purpose of like this crazy Kaitlan Collins?'

The comments come only days after Trump used his Truth Social account to call Collins a "Third Rate 'Reporter,'" questioning why she was present at the UN after claiming news outlets said they would not cover him.

He went on to tell Time that Collins is a "very average person."

"She's the most unhappy young person I've ever seen," Trump said.

"If I did something spectacular by any standard, and they would write about it, they will only write badly. Sometimes I'm amazed at how they can—you know, yesterday I got tremendous applause from massive crowds that came to Duncan. And I said to the people, "Don't feel bad tomorrow when you read that I got booed out of the place." I didn't get booed out of the place."

Collins has been a frequent target of Trump's criticism.

Most recently, after she won an award at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Trump congratulated her but added her reporting "was all about me. It's a fake."

During a Daily Show interview with Jon Stewart in July, Collins said she wants audiences to focus on her journalism rather than Trump's attacks.

"It's important to put the reminder back on the work, on the question and on the non-answers that we get," she said.
