Trump Pledges Up to $500 Million From MAGA Inc. for GOP Midterm Races

President Donald Trump said Friday that his MAGA Inc. super PAC plans to spend between $400 million and $500 million to help Republican candidates in the November midterm elections.

Trump hoped to address concerns among Republicans that his political operation had been slow to deploy its substantial cash reserves.

"I'm going to spend whatever amount of money necessary to try to help us," Trump told reporters during an event in the Oval Office.

"This is money from MAGA Inc. This is money that I control," Trump said.

Trump's announcement comes with roughly two months remaining before the Nov. 3 elections, when Republicans will defend their majorities in Congress.

MAGA Inc. had more than $403 million in its accounts at the end of July, according to federal campaign-finance filings.

The super PAC has spent relatively little on 2026 congressional races so far, prompting some Republicans to press Trump to put more of the money into competitive contests.

Trump said he intends to provide financial support to Republican candidates he believes are well positioned to win.

"I'm going to be making contributions to various campaigns and people I think are good, Republicans that I think are very good, people that I think can win or are close to winning," Trump said.

The announcement could bring a significant increase in Republican campaign spending, although the timing presents a challenge.

Reuters reported Friday that with Election Day only about two months away, a large late spending push could have less impact than advertising purchased earlier, when more television advertising inventory was available and fewer voters had made up their minds.

One race drawing particular attention from Republicans is the Texas Senate contest between Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico.

Trump endorsed Paxton over Republican Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP primary, despite resistance from some Senate Republican leaders.

Paxton now faces a competitive general election in a state that has long been a Republican stronghold, while Talarico has been raising money at a strong pace.

Trump also indicated that not all of his political funds necessarily would be spent in the 2026 election.

He said some money could be retained for the 2028 presidential election when Republicans will choose a nominee to succeed him.

"We have around $1 billion that I can spend," Trump said, while adding that he expected to have money left over for 2028.

That figure should be distinguished from MAGA Inc.'s reported cash balance. Federal filings showed the super PAC had more than $403 million on hand at the end of July, while Trump has described his broader political resources as totaling roughly $1 billion.

The announcement follows increasing pressure from Republicans for Trump to deploy his political resources on behalf of candidates in competitive House and Senate races.

CBS News reported that an allied nonprofit, Securing American Greatness, recently began airing its first nationwide advertising, although the initial ads have focused on Trump rather than individual congressional candidates.

MAGA Inc. is a super PAC, meaning it can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money independently of candidates and their campaigns, subject to federal campaign-finance rules governing coordination.
