Trump Retreats to Mar-a-Lago After Midterms Shellacking
President Donald Trump is heading to Florida on Friday, days after Democrats delivered sweeping victories in the 2026 midterm elections. According to the White House's weekend schedule, Trump will depart the White House for Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he is scheduled to deliver remarks at the Kennedy Space Center.

He will then travel to Palm Beach, where he is expected to spend the remainder of the weekend. His Saturday schedule lists only a closed-press policy meeting. Sunday begins with closed-press "executive time." In the past, Trump has visited his nearby golf club, something he could do again before his scheduled departure for Washington.
The weekend schedule also lists a separate trip for First Lady Melania Trump, who is expected to travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday for a "Fostering the Future Endowment Fund" event at Louisiana State University before attending the LSU Tigers versus Alabama Crimson Tide football game.
