Illinois Community Shocked By Alleged Murder of Two-Year-Old By Mom Who ‘Recently Became Very Invested in Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial’

The town of Frankfort, Illinois, has been rocked by the gruesome murder of a two-year-old boy, allegedly by his mother, who "recently became very invested in the Lindsay Clancytrial," per court documents.
NBC5 Chicago reported the young child was allegedly killed by his 38-year-old mother while her three other children were at home.
CBS News Chicago also reported on the death . "Police found the boy inside their home Tuesday, and we're told the mother … was also there attempting to self-harm," explained investigative reporter Dana Kozlov.
Per NBC5, Corie A. Walshwas charged with three counts of first-degree murder. She was found in her home "attempting to harm herself as police said they discovered her 2-year-old child unresponsive." The toddler later died at an area hospital.
Frankfort Police Chief Leanne Chelepis said in a statement , "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, their loved ones, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. We ask our community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers and to respect their privacy as they navigate this profoundly difficult time."
Court documents reviewed by NBC5 indicate Walsh told police she "did this to her baby because he was the 'devil' and the 'anti-Christ.'" She also had "recently become very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial."
Police received a report of an "injured 2-year-old child," the documents also note. "When officers arrived, a neighbor was performing CPR on a toddler, later identified as two-year-old Barrett Walsh, born March 26, 2024."
A neighbor told police she found the young boy, who was nicknamed Bear, "hanging from a rafter in the basement." Prosecutors noted that he "had a ligature around his neck and his feet were off the ground." The neighbor removed the ligature and began administering CPR. An autopsy found he died of "asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck."
Clancy, whose criminal proceedings ended in a mistrial Friday , was on trial for the deaths of her three children: Cora,5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Clancy admitted to strangling the children with exercise bands. Walsh's court documents note she "had been actively discussing the case via group text message with her friends."
