Marcia Hebb selected to assume the role of McDowell County Prosecuting Attorney

WELCH, WV (WVNS) - McDowell County residents have seen a change in leadership with the appointment of new prosecuting attorney, Marcia Hebb.

Longtime prosecutor Brittany Puckett-Jackson stepped away after nearly six years in the role. A former defense attorney, Hebb gained experience as an assistant prosecutor during her time with the office.

She praised the work of the now-former prosecutor and said she is excited to take on the challenges of the new job.

"I'm looking forward to streamlining the office a little more. I'm looking forward to emptying the jail out as much as possible and moving cases at a much faster pace," Hebb explained. "Making sure that the investigations are complete and that we have only cases that have good evidence."

Hebb said she became an assistant prosecutor not knowing her new job would soon become available. Though the appointment came as a surprise, she said she believes she is the perfect fit for the role. She also said she hopes to use her decades of experience and passion for the legal field to help move McDowell County in a positive direction.
