How Houston's Sports Owners Directed Their Federal Political Donations

Houston's sports owners and investors show sharply different political priorities, with nearly half a million dollars in federal contributions since 2025. Friedkin also contributed $40,000 to Republican state parties in Alaska, California, Montana and Rhode Island, alongside other political donations. Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash owner Ted Segal contributed $27,000, including donations to a joint fundraising committee supporting Democratic candidates. Houston Astros owner Jim Crane gave $10,000 exclusively to Major League Baseball's political action committee in the recent cycle. Crane's contributions since 2025 came in 2 separate donations of $5,000, supporting the organization representing baseball ownership and the commissioner's office.
