OKC Mexican consulate provides free health, financial programs

The Mexican Consulate in Oklahoma City is offering free health, finance and education services through three community windows. A health "window" provides health advocacy and medical services to immigrants, with vaccinations, blood pressure screenings and assistance. Consul Edurne Pineda said health care is an issue that not only affects immigrants but also all Americans. The program has helped roughly 150,000 people, including 50,000 through the health window, at 1131 W Sheridan Ave. Benjamin Canizales, with the Latino Community Development Agency, said health fairs also provide services to people traveling from as far away Kansas and Texas. Leaders said community services are not limited by nationality or immigration status, and anyone can come and take advantage of them.
