Second screwworm case spurs emergency in South Texas

A second case of the flesh‑eating New World screwworm was found in a calf in South Texas, over five miles from the first. The parasite threatens livestock, prompting Governor Greg Abbott to declare an emergency in Zavala and Uvalde counties.
