Weather forecast: Cold front parade on the way

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Welcome to October!

It's a new month, but not quite new weather as Tuesday temperatures surged into the 70s once again. Clouds have been slowly increasing from the west ahead of an approaching cold front. That front won't get hear until early Wednesday morning, so rain showers will hold off until the wee hours of the morning. Drier air will quickly punch in behind the front, so not only will the rain be brief, the clouds will quickly erode into late morning. We'll enjoy sunshine for the remainder of the day with highs remaining in the middle 60s.

Temperatures tomorrow night will spill into the 40s. That's definitely cooler, but nothing more than average for early October and without risk of frost. Sunshine and temperatures into the 70s return Thursday and Friday looks warm too. A second cold front late Friday won't have much bite, both in terms of rain and cooler air. Overall, our weekend looks great. Eyes turn to cold front #3 later Sunday. That's the one that appears to be the most impressive. Downpours Sunday night precede much cooler air into early next week. If you're a fall weather fan, that's the one you're waiting on.
