Houston's rain chances will remain elevated Saturday as Edouard's fading circulation leaves behind an atmospheric disturbance that could trigger scattered afternoon and evening storms across Southeast Texas.
The storm itself will continue to weaken, but an area of lower pressure and weaker winds higher in the atmosphere will linger near the region. That leftover disturbance can help air rise, keeping showers and thunderstorms in the forecast even after Edouard's main circulation disappears.

Saturday brings widespread storm chances
Saturday is likely to be the wetter of the two weekend days, with nearly equal chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms across Southeast Texas during the afternoon and early evening. Some storms could produce brief heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty winds and localized street flooding. If your plans depend on dry weather, the best window for outdoor activities will likely be before 10 or 11 a.m.

Highs will reach the lower to middle 90s, with heat index values above 100 degrees.
Sunday storms focus near and south of I-10
Storms will become more isolated Sunday, with the best chances again coming during the afternoon and early evening near and south of Interstate 10. Coastal areas could see showers develop before noon, while most areas north of I-10 remain dry.
Temperatures should trend warmer, with highs returning closer to normal or slightly above normal.
Labor Day offers a warmer, drier setup
The first look at Labor Day calls for warmer temperatures and fewer storms across the Houston area. Rain chances should be mainly tied to the coastal sea breeze, with the best opportunity for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm near and south of Interstate 10.

Most areas farther north will likely remain dry, though the holiday forecast could still change as the disturbance left behind by Edouard shifts farther south. Any storms that develop Monday could produce brief heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds.
Temperatures should run near normal to slightly above normal, with afternoon heat and heat index values again becoming a concern. Anyone with outdoor plans should continue monitoring the forecast, especially during the afternoon and early evening.
