One lightly wounded in suspected stabbing terror attack near Old City's Damascus Gate

- A man in his 30s was lightly wounded in a suspected stabbing terror attack near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, with the terrorist being shot and killed by police officers.
The attack came hours after more than 50,000 people gathered at the Western Wall to recite the selichot earlier in the night.
A man in his 30s was lightly wounded in the suspected stabbing terror attack in the Damascus Gate area of the Old City of Jerusalem, United Hatzalah said early Friday morning.
He was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center for further treatment by United Hatzalah .
Israel Police said that officers stationed in the area shot the terrorist after he approached security personnel located nearby.
The attack came hours after more than 50,000 people gathered at the Western Wall to recite the selichot earlier in the night.
The sequence of events during and after the attack
The terrorist reportedly arrived at the Damascus Gate via motorcycle around 3:45 a.m., and attempted to stab civilians there. They managed to escape unharmed and called the police.

Jerusalem Border Police responded to the call and caught the terrorist holding a knife. He attempted to stab one of the Border Police officers, at which point another officer shot and killed him.
The attacker's knife was seized as criminal evidence.
