A 1-year-old boy has died after being accidentally run over by a family member in Texas.

On Wednesday, April 29, the Parker County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that they received a call about the incident, which occurred in Parker County, on Tuesday, April 28, at around 4:31 p.m. local time.

Authorities said a family member of the boy told them that another family member accidentally drove over the child in their residence's driveway.

“Sergeant Shane Cartwright, Public Information Officer for the Parker County Sheriff's Office, explained that Deputies and Investigators were immediately dispatched to a residence located in Northeast Parker County where they contacted the child's family,” the release read.

Officials were told that an adult family member left the residence to bring a vehicle closer to the house to prepare for incoming storms.

However, the family member did not know that the little boy had also exited the home and was in a blind spot near the vehicle.

“As the vehicle pulled forward, the child was subsequently driven over,” the statement continued. “The family immediately began lifesaving measures and continued doing so until EMS arrived and transported the child to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle, TX.”

Another round of lifesaving measures were carried out when emergency responders arrived, but attempts were unsuccessful.

“Sheriff Russ Authier said that it is with great sadness we are making this report,” the release read. “The thoughts and prayers of the Parker County Sheriff's Office go out to this family during this difficult time.”
