After the rice arrived, she opened a bag and poured the contents into a container before heading out.

"When I came back home, I saw there were a few moths flying around in my place that I never noticed before," she told 7 On Your Side. "And then when I looked in my container... I opened [it] and there were a couple of moths that flew out."

Chau took a video of the second bag, which she'd left in her pantry. In the footage, insects can be seen moving around, and she told reporter Stephanie Sierra that she threw the "disgusting" rice away. "It was just not fun dealing with this at all," she said, adding that she felt "complete disgust."

"There were things wiggling in it!" Chau said of the second bag of rice. "There was like worms ... things wiggling inside an unopened bag of rice."

Chau explained that she contacted Amazon, with emails showing that they agreed to refund her $301.15 within seven business days. However, she claimed she never received the money after waiting "three weeks to a month," prompting her to contact ABC7.

ABC7 reached out to Amazon, and a spokesperson told the network that the company "resolved the matter directly with the customer."

Chau confirmed that she received her refund the next business day, along with an additional $100 gift card. She said that she was "just relieved and happy that it finally got resolved."

PEOPLE reached out to Amazon for further comment but did not immediately receive a response.

A number of food safety issues have made the news in recent months. Last week, roadkill was found in a Chinese restaurant's freezer in Louisiana, while in January, a $1 billion construction project in Australia was halted after a photo of a maggot-infested meal served to a worker went viral.
