Trump endorses an ICE rebrand to ‘NICE’
( NewsNation ) — President Donald Trump endorsed an idea to rebrand Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aka ICE, to “NICE.”
“I want Trump to change ICE to NICE (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement) so the media has to say NICE agents all day everyday,” wrote conservative influencer Alyssa Marie last month.
Trump posted a screenshot of her suggestion on Truth Social Sunday, adding the caption: “GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT”

Marie is a journalist for the nonprofit The American Border Story and formerly worked at Project Veritas , a conservative organization that produced videos intended to undermine media perceived as liberal.
It would take legislation and congressional approval to rename the agency, NewsNation partner The Hill reported. It wouldn’t be the first name change in Trump’s tenure; last summer, he pushed for the Department of Defense to be rebranded as the “Department of War” via executive order.
According to a White House fact sheet, the name serves as a secondary title for the agency. Officials will be able to use titles such as secretary of war instead of secretary of defense.

The same could happen for ICE, though Trump has not announced anything of the sort.
Trump’s comments come as the Department of Homeland Security remains in a partial shutdown and funding stalemate following calls from Democrats to reform ICE and the Border Patrol.
