President Trump on Monday said CNN political analyst Van Jones should be “ashamed of himself” for referring to him as a dictator on air after the two worked together for criminal justice reform in his first administration.

“I liked some of the people he was with, agreed with what they were saying, and quickly rounded up the votes needed to get CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM approved. It was NOT easy!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post .

“Nobody else, including Obama, who tried to for years, could have done this! Now I watch this guy, Van Jones, every chance he gets, calling me a ‘Dictator,’ and far worse. He should be ashamed of himself!!!” he added.

In 2018, Trump, alongside Jones and other activists in the Black community, worked to pass the First Step Act , a criminal justice reform law aimed at reducing recidivism, reforming federal sentencing laws and improving prison conditions.

Trump previously slammed Jones for not thanking him after he pressed to get bipartisan support on the legislation.

“I got it done, with Conservative help, and this lowlife, Jones, never once called to thank me, or the others that helped, for what we had done,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post while on the 2024 presidential campaign trail.

“Along with Opportunity Zones, the long term funding of HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, and much more, I’ve done more for our black population than anyone other than, perhaps, Abraham Lincoln!!! Sorry, but that’s the way it is!!!” Trump wrote

He criticized Jones for praising former Vice President Kamala Harris’s economic agenda.
Jones also fired off about Trump being “freaked out” by the attention Harris has been getting recently and alleged that he’d  keep “falling” as long as he “continues to throw fits.”
