Williams Jr., who was affectionately called "Dooda" by his loved ones, was a freshman at L. B. Landry High School and enjoyed playing basketball, rapping, dancing and playing video games.
"I would like to describe my son, Raynard Williams Jr., as intelligent, outstanding, hilarious," Robinson said in Homicide Squad: New Orleans . "I wanted him not just to see New Orleans, I wanted him to see the world, and I never imagined spending my life without my son."
His grandmother Ann called him a "loving child" who "would give me the shirt off his back."
"He was real humble and family was everything for him," she emotionally said, while later adding, "Raynard was my world."
Williams Jr.'s sister, Ray'anna, said that her brother was her "twin," who was "very protective of me."
"He was my role model," she said through tears. "I just miss him. That's my other half. That's my whole heart."
What happened to Raynard Williams Jr.?
On the night of March 18, 2024, Williams Jr. was with a friend when Ray'anna called him and asked if they could walk her home after she got into a verbal altercation with someone she didn't know at track practice.
While the three were walking home, unbeknownst to them, a person in a red car was following them. Around 8:30 p.m., Williams Jr. and his friend had dropped off Ray'anna and were walking along General Meyer Avenue near Murl Street when they were shot at over a dozen times.
Williams Jr. was pronounced dead after police arrived; he sustained gunshots to his back and head.
Shortly after, investigators began searching the crime scene and compiled surveillance footage, through which they were able to place a red Audi at the scene of the crime. They later tracked it down to a home about a mile away from the crime scene.
Around a week after Williams Jr.'s death, police embarked on a high-speed chase with the red Audi when the suspect left the home. The chase resulted in a car accident, after which they arrested the driver of the car, Wyatt.
He was hospitalized for his injuries and charged with aggravated flight from an officer and being a felon in possession of a firearm. However, Wyatt wasn't officially charged in connection with Williams Jr.'s killing until June of that year when the FBI helped detectives confirm that Wyatt's phone GPS placed him at the scene of the crime.

Several of Williams Jr.'s loved ones have opened up about his sudden death and how they felt after Wyatt was charged with second-degree murder.
“I keep seeing his face, saying, ‘Momma help me.’ [I] keep seeing his face saying, ‘Momma I didn’t do nothing wrong,' " Robinson told WWL just two days after the alleged murder. "The only thing I got they were saying was that my son was dead. He was lying on the ground dead."
Ray’anna said that regardless of what happened earlier in the night, it was "never that big for you to pull out a gun and shoot somebody."
"That’s why I’m hurt. I’m always going to have this pain," Ray’anna shared.
Before her son's alleged killer was arrested, Robinson had already made the decision to "forgive them," because that's what her son would want her to do.
"I hope they get the love that they need. I hope they find in their heart to understand that because it’s not me you have to answer to. It’s God," she said.
After police officially charged Wyatt in June 2024, they visited Robinson and Ann at their home where they broke the news, as shown in Homicide Squad: New Orleans .
"I was very excited. I thank everybody for the love the support," Robinson said through tears, while thanking detectives.
Ann added, "My grandson didn’t deserve that. He wasn’t he wasn’t the type of child that would hurt somebody just because. I'm sorry that it had to happen like this and hopefully as time passes, we'll get justice."
The family held a jubilant traditional New Orleans Celebration of Life ceremony, called a second line , for Williams Jr. two years after his death in March 2026. They also hosted a candlelight vigil for justice.
