The president claimed that the ballroom was designed to be strong enough to withstand a nuclear attack.

He explained the structure's strength, saying, "You could take a jackhammer and go to those columns and stand there for two days at full blast, and you wouldn't even see a mark. It's nuclear concrete. I think it would be very hard. It's meant for if there's a nuclear attack. I'm not sure you could take it down."

Donald Trump is building a ballroom at the White House that would include a grand staircase, movie theater, and kitchen. According to the New York Post , the controversial project is nearly halfway done after the Supreme Court allowed construction to proceed.

Democrats have criticized the project, arguing that it's proof that Trump is out of touch with the concerns of Americans. Reportedly, Democrats could launch an investigation into the project if they regain the presidency.

Trump reportedly received daily reports on the construction of the project. The White House ballroom has a reported $400 million budget.
