Equipped with a new One City Ecological Emergency Strategy and an Ecological Emergency Action Plan the council pledged to "put nature at the heart of decision-making” and address the drastic declines in nature and wildlife seen across the city. Central to the council’s ambitious plan is the goal of having 30% of Bristol’s land managed for the benefit of nature. Avon Wildlife Trust wholeheartedly supports this goal in its own strategy. However, three and a half years after declaring the emergency, the council's conviction is being tested with sensitive wildlife sites being targeted for development.
